FAQ - Do I have to be in every show throughout the season?

*** We are not expecting people to be in every single show. We are looking for a diverse group of folks to spread the effort throughout the season! It's okay if you know you have blocks of time you'll be unavailable - having a general sense of who can do what, and when, helps us plan the casting for each show. We won't penalize people for having surgeries, vacation plans, work trips, unexpected health issues, etc. So don't let that stop you from sharing your amazing self with us! ***

We are so excited that you’re interested in being a part of the 2026 Vega 360 cast!

We have spent nearly two years building this program and developing how it works best and we have had the good fortune to work with a fabulous cast of dancers, and humans. Our shows have been such a success over the last year and half; both behind the scenes, and on the stage, that we are ready for our endeavor to grow. We are ready to make everything bigger, better, and weirder. We’ve got a lot of shows up our sleeve for next year, which opens up opportunities to bring on fresh faces, and more dancers.

Our cabaret shows consist of various dance styles; like jazz, burlesque, hip hop, and contemporary. You don’t have to be well-versed in all those formats, however! If you’re willing to be a part of the journey, and you’re chosen to be on the upcoming cast, know that we will do everything in our power to help you grow as a dancer, performer, and teammate. We firmly believe that a spot on the cast should not only be “yes” from us, but also an enthusiastic “yes” from you. As such, you should be aware of what our expectations are moving forward to help you make an informed decision.

Expectations:

  • Show respect, to us as your Producer/choreographers, to your teammates, and to the studio space by being thoughtful in your words and actions. Talking back, arguing, and negative attitudes have no place on the team or in rehearsals.
  • Be open, willing, and eager to receive feedback.
  • Each dancer should have their own performance basics. ie: fishnets, shoes, etc
  • Be prepared to learn, practice, and memorize on your own time and come to rehearsals ready to work.
  • Adaptability - choreography and formations can change in the moment. You need to be able to take in information quickly and apply it.
  • Come to rehearsals prepared with choreography, shoes, snacks…know how to take care of yourself so you can be a better teammate.
  • Leave outside relationships/issues at the door. Once you’re inside the doors everyone is equal as teammates, and should lift each other up.
  • Promote the shows and be prepared to work at shows you’re not dancing in.
  • Continue to take classes at Vega. As a representative of the studio we expect you to take class every week and be an active member of the community.
  • HAVE FUN!

Being a member of the cast comes with a lot of work and responsibility, but at the end of the day we want to have fun together, we want to create magic. Our sincerest hope is that this program continues to grow, and makes Vega 360 a reason for people to come visit Portland, just to see what we’ll do this time. We know we can’t do that without dancers who are excited to perform and learn in a professional environment. If that sounds like you, please continue with the process! We can’t wait to see you at auditions!
